Realistically you have 3 options to get around the issue: If you fit a swivel on top of the seat base it will crash into your handbrake when you attempt to rotate your seat. The main issue you'll find is that the handbrake (even when released) sits higher than your the metal seat base in your van. They attach the bottom of the bracket to the bottom of the handbrake as shown in the installation video (see thumbnails). With regard to supplying nyloc nuts, we took the view that if the OEM handbrake fixings supplied by VW are using standard nuts, then nylocs are unnecessary in this application. It is possible to increase the cable tension underneath the van so that you don't need to pull it up so high. As yours is moving, perhaps you are having to pull the handbrake up higher than we do on our own vans. The plastic trim cover should not move when you apply the handbrake. ![]() It does not affect the handbrake function but does mean you can feel the flexing in the bracket metalwork. That inevitably adds material between the mechanism and the solid fixing - which in turn means there is room for movement. So we, and everyone else who manufactures such lowering kits, instead opt to make use of the existing fixings that are welded to the seat base, then adding a bracket to move the handbrake mechanism lower. In our view this makes the idea of lowering the handbrake impractical for most people. To make a bracket that is as 'solid' feeling as the OEM fixing would involve cutting away the original fixings & drilling new fixing points in the seat base.
